Privacy Policy

In accordance with the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation, the statement below explains Guerilla Science uses personal information collected from you when you visit our website .

What information do we collect, and why?

Guerilla Science collects information from you when you register on our site, place an order on our online shop or buy a ticket to an event, or subscribe to our newsletter.

Our website collects and uses personal information for:

Site visit tracking – to improve our website

This site uses Google Analytics to track user interaction. We use this data to determine the number of people using our site, to better understand how they find and use our web pages and to see their journey through the website.

Although Google Analytics records data such as your geographical location, device, internet browser and operating system, none of this information personally identifies you to us. We consider Google to be a third party data processor (see Third Parties below).

Google Analytics makes use of cookies (if you allow) that enables the sites or service providers systems to recognize your browser and capture and remember certain information.

Disabling cookies on your internet browser will stop Google Analytics from tracking any part of your visit to pages within this website.

This site uses “cookies” (small data files that our server sends to your browser) to store and sometimes track information about you. A cookie is a small amount of data sent from the server and stored on your computer’s hard drive. Most web browsers are automatically set up to accept cookies, but you can set your browser to refuse cookies or ask your browser to show you where a cookie has been set up. We don’t store personally identifiable information such as credit card details in cookies we create, but we do use encrypted information gathered from them to help improve your experience of the Website. For example, they help us to identify and resolve errors, or to determine relevant related products to show you when you’re browsing. You can obtain information about how to manage cookies here.

Email newsletter – to keep in touch with you

If you choose to receive our email newsletter, the email address that you submit to us will be forwarded to MailChimp who provide us with email marketing services. We consider MailChimp to be a third party data processor (see Third Parties below). The email address that you submit will not be stored within this website’s own database or in any of our internal computer systems.

Your email address will remain within MailChimp’s database for as long as we continue to use MailChimp’s services for email marketing or until you specifically request removal from the list. You can do this by unsubscribing using the unsubscribe links contained in any email newsletters that we send you or by emailing us to requesting removal via email. When requesting removal via email, please send your email to us using the email account that is subscribed to the mailing list.

Be advised, users under 16 years of age MUST obtain parental consent before joining our email newsletter.

While your email address remains within the MailChimp database, you will receive periodic (approximately once a month) newsletter-style emails from us, as well as direct email communication once or twice a year if we think one of our services is relevant to you.

Product and Ticket Orders – to process transactions

We will also use information you provide when we manage and fulfil your order for subscription only content and to purchase products through Shopify or Eventbrite, or in correspondence with us. Your transaction information will remain in Shopify or Eventbrite’s secure system for up to seven years in order to remain accessible for tax and accounting services.

Do we disclose any information to outside parties?

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your personally identifiable information. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential (seeThird Party data processors below). We may also release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce our site policies, or protect ours or others rights, property, or safety. However, non-personally identifiable visitor information may be provided to other parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.

Third party data processors

We use a number of third parties to process personal data on our behalf. These third parties comply with the legislation required in the UK, EU and USA. All of these third parties are based in the USA and are EU-U.S Privacy Shield compliant.
