Artist-scientist festival residency open call
January 25, 2018 by Romie
Calling all artists and scientists! Guerilla Science and Pratt Institute are inviting applications to take part in a paid residency program in the U.S. Apply now!
Guerilla Science and the Pratt Institute in New York are once again hosting a residency for up to 15 artist-scientist collaborations to bring transformational experiences to art and music festivals. The remote residency will take place over 8 weeks, and culminate in late June at FIGMENT NYC, a participatory arts festival that celebrates creativity, taking place on Governors Island.
Music, cabaret, theater, and art are pervasive at music festivals – so why not science? As part of our National Science Foundation project, we are seeking applicants interested in developing new forms of interactive installations and live events that mix science with art, music and play. We believe that unique creative experiences, such as games, hands-on workshops, participatory art, and immersive performances, are great ways to share science with people who may be disconnected from research.
We are inviting scientists, engineers, designers, and artists to submit a proposal for an interdisciplinary work of their choice. Groups will be provided with an honorarium of $4,500, festival access and a travel subsidy. Interactive design and performance workshops, along with access to a network of experienced mentors and partners, will be available throughout the residency period.
More details and instructions for applying, including who should apply, can be found here. Review of applications will begin on February 20th.
