16 July 2017, Victoria Park, London
On July 2017, Guerilla Science took over Citadel Festival’s #ScienceCamp to give Londoners lessons in hacking their dreams and their love lives.
Now in its third year, Citadel Festival is a celebration of the ultimate summer Sunday. Taking place in East London’s beautiful Victoria Park, the festival offered up an impressive lineup of music, arts, culture and sports, with everything from yoga to spoken word.
The special Sunday in London started with a gentle hum, where festival goers joined us in The Science Camp for a lesson in lucid dreaming. Our collaborating scientist guided audiences on how to blur waking and sleeping, steer surreal worlds, and control their wildest fantasies. The therapeutic tutorial brightened everyone’s morning, providing the packed tent with the tools to direct their own dreamscapes, navigate nocturnal meditations, and reveal what dreams told us about the human mind.
Later in the afternoon, festival goers packed into the tent for another session of our crowd favourite, sensory speed dating. Londoners discovered how our senses, brain, and body react when we meet a special someone. Guided through a series of sensory adventures based on scientific research in neuroscience, genetics and psychology, we deconstructed dating and analysed attraction, while attempting to uncover how people really choose a lover. An exciting event open to daters of all persuasions!
