April 2010 - Present, UK & US
The Flavour Feast is a pop-up party for the senses. From inside our giant pink booth, interactive experiences with scientists give our guests a journey through all of the under-appreciated aspects of what we call ‘taste’. You’ll walk away rethinking everything you thought you knew about your tongue.
Sample a series of delectable delights designed to confuse your sense of taste, touch, hearing, smell and sight. Visitors select from our menu of edible demonstrations that ‘trick’ their senses to explore the multisensory nature of flavor perception. Each demo reveals the role a specific sense plays in the experience of taste.
We’ve also served up Flavour Feast as a dining and packed lunch experience, delving deeper into each sense through a series of experimental courses with large audiences.
Flavour Feast is rooted in research on multi-modal flavor perception from the lab of Charles Spence at Oxford University. Illuminating the link between real cutting-edge experiments and our demonstrations is an important part of the event. We collaborated with Charles to craft several experiments based on setups used by his group.
