Sensorium at FIGMENT NYC
23-24 June 2018, Governors Island, House 407B, NYC
We played, explored, and experimented at the Guerilla Science Sensorium — a dreamlike celebration of the human body and brain!
We put sounds inside your head, tasted your thoughts, and tangled up your tongue to explore the most complex thing in the universe: you! From bones to brains, and senses to skin, we celebrated the spectrum of human experience during a sensuous weekend at the FIGMENT festival on Governors Island.
We were delighted to return to FIGMENT for the third time, where we transformed a disused officer’s quarters into a cabinet of curiosities for the senses. Over the weekend we exhibited 20 small performances distributed across 10 rooms and a luscious lawn, in an otherworldy fusion of art and science! In the process, we uncovered some of the mysteries of how our bodies make us who we are.
Drop-in consultations and interactive activities included creations from our 2018 residency in partnership with the Pratt Institute and supported by the National Science Foundation. Sensorium also included Guerilla Science’s most popular events, featuring art, yoga and food.
