January 15, 2016 by Mark
We are delighted to announce that the Simons Foundation has awarded Guerilla Science a $1.25 million grant to revolutionize how people everywhere, see, experience and understand science.
Guerilla Science is about to take America by storm! Starting January 2016, the Education and Outreach division of the Simons Foundation is providing support for Guerilla Science to expand its operations in the U.S. The Simons Foundation’s mission is to advance the frontiers of research in mathematics and the basic sciences, and the grant is part of an initiative to enhance the public’s engagement with science and math.
Thanks to Simons, we’ll be launching a new program of events, bringing our guerilla approach to science engagement to new audiences across America at music festivals, parties, and public spaces.
Our plans include a bevy of events in and around New York City, a tour of festivals across the U.S., and digital experiments that will translate our live experiences into online spaces accessible across the world. We’ll be looking for scientists and artists to collaborate with us as we ramp up our activities in America. Stay tuned for opportunities to get involved!
